Can I wear a scarf while pregnant?

Absolutely!  In fact, this is one trend that is just fabulous to follow while you are pregnant.  Take advantage of the season and buy a bunch in different colors and textures.  Let’s face it, most moms really want to get the most out of their maternity wardrobe.  Adding a scarf to your ensemble will take your look up a notch and make you look like you are wearing a completely new outfit (even if you just wore the same shirt a few days ago…).  There is really no right or wrong way to tie it.  Just throw it around your neck and play with it a little.  You’ll be looking European and fashionable instantly!

Fall Delivery of Sweet Pea 9

I am really thrilled with the latest shipment of Sweet Pea 9 (maternity).  The colors and prints couldn’t be more perfect for the early Fall season we are in right now.  These tops are made out of the same great mesh fabric that you love in your regular Sweet Pea.  The mesh is ideal for maternity as it just keeps growing (& shrinking!) with you.  You can wear it post-baby no problem!  It will flatter your not-yet-back-to-pre-baby shape.  I recommend wearing these tops with jeans or your dress pants.  You really cannot go wrong. 

 

 

In the Fall spirit….

Labor Day has passed and it almost seems as if Mother Nature knows to send the cooler air our way!  Even Starbucks has brought back the ever-yummy ‘Pumpkin Spice Latte’ for the season…a sure sign of Fall (not to mention a personal fave)! 

This recent ‘fresh’ air has got me super excited about fall clothes.  Now that it is here, we can all officially jump in and welcome all of the new fun, Fall tops, sweaters, and pants.  I say, bring it on.  We are all sick of our Summer attire by now anyways, aren’t we? 

We are getting gobs of Fall maternity clothes each day.  Here are a couple of my favorites that you can wear right now!  The cocoa top is a hot little style by Bump Couture.  Perfect to wear with your jeans!  The peacock blue top is a banded-bottom style by Maternite.

Get a leg up on Fall with Leggings!

The legging trend is back this Fall and we couldn’t be more excited.  This is one trend that translates to maternity fashion EXTREMELY well!  When you are pregnant, a legging will keep you comfy all day, you will feel ‘held in’ a little, and it will keep you looking like you are in style without trying to hard.  Your neighborhood Hot Mama boutiques have just received a great maternity legging by Olian.  This one hits mid-calf and has a comfortable, underbelly fit.  There are so many fun maternity tunics, dresses, and sweaters that will look fabulous with this legging.  Trust us, you can pull this off!  I love to style them with cute flats for now and tuck into a boot later!

Michael Stars Maternity Tees

Our stores are so excited about our recent shipment of Michael Stars Maternity tees!  We have lots of great styles in various sleeve lengths that you can wear now through the fall and winter.  What is so great about Michael Stars Maternity tees?  They are such great, basic tops, but the style is always one notch above the rest.  They are super-flattering, the colors are amazing, they are stylish, and amazingly comfortable.  They definitely highlight your best features!  Stop in now to pick up some for yourself.

Boobalicious

Its no secret that many women not only experience a growing belly, but also a growing chest during pregnancy!  While the man in our life loves this, it can leave you scurrying to find maternity tops that actually fit you.  Here are some thoughts and photos to help you out. 

Definitely steer clear of any tops that have an empire waist or band under the bustline.  These tops usually do not have enough room for your girls!  I also do not recommend tops that button up or have a high neckline like a turtleneck, for example.  Instead, opt for v-neck tops and prints!  A v-neck really elongates your neck and face, drawing the eye upwards.  Same for prints – they can really disguise your chest and flatter you all over.  I also love tops that feature a seam above the bust (like the Ripe Tulip Top below).

Another idea is to accessorize with one of the season’s many cute scarves!  A scarf will give you a little bit of coverage and visually add a lot of interest to your neck!  Its chic and super easy… 

 

 

  

Summer is still in full swing!

Have you seen all of the fall merchandise in stores already?  While the true shopper in me loves to see what is coming for fall, the buyer in me knows that many of you still need to get through summer!  When you are pregnant, it is even more true….you want to be able to wear the clothes you buy right away!  We have some great styles in our stores for summer…at fabulous prices.  Check out a few of my favorite tops & shorts below…they will keep you cute, cool, and comfortable for the rest of the summer and beyond!

Petite and Pregnant?

Good things come in small packages!  At Hot Mama, we understand how important it is to offer petite sizes to our moms.  We are so excited that designers are starting to understand this, too!  Each market, we are starting to see more and more petite pants and jeans offered by some of your favorite designers!  If you are petite and pregnant, we’ve got you covered.

For tops, we have a lot of options.  Many of our designers make XS sizes!  First off, I recommend Olian.  The owner and top designer is a gorgeous petite woman from Miami that really understands how clothes should fit your body.  The length is perfect and her v-necks draw the eye upwards and lengthen the torso like you wouldn’t believe.

I also really like to show Ripe to our petite maternity moms.  Ripe is a brand out of Australia that is known for their luxuriously soft fabrics, trendy tops, and perfect fit.

Double Duty!

We had a customer stop into one of our stores a few days ago to buy a nursing cover.  She was at the pool and saw a ‘Hot Mama’ using her adorable Bebe au Lait nursing cover to shield her baby from the sun.  The mom had her baby in a Baby Bjorn sling and was able to keep her little one out of the sun by wearing her nursing cover!  She had her hands free to assist her other kids and her little baby’s skin protected!  BRILLIANT!  I love how creative moms are!  I thought this would be a fun tidbit to share with all of you!

Juicy Couture Maternity has arrived!

You all have been asking (thank you - we love hearing from you!) and will be so happy to know that our stores have just received a shipment of Juicy Couture maternity!  We have the original leg pant and long-sleeved hoodie in black velour, and the most adorable tank that says ‘My Baby for President’.  I literally lived in my Juicy outfit when I was pregnant and know so many girlfriends that have too!  There is something about how cozy and chic they are yet you didn’t have to rummaging through your man’s closet for them!
